Breach is a game of potential offering destructible environments and small arms tactical game play built around real world scenarios.

As a FPS Breach doesn’t lead the pack, and it is certainly not perfect but when looking for cheap games to unleash on small LAN’s it has serious potential.

Watch… Breach game-play at E3

We will begin with the pros.

Breach offers well crafted maps with destructible environments and realistic tactical situations. Offering simple and yet realistic weapon choices and keeping to a real world portrayal of their use and effectiveness (we excuse the close range use of sniper rifles since without them, FPS **** would cry.)

Running on modest systems and decent laptops (tested on Asus G73 working. Tested on ALienware m17x with SLI for a epic fail.) breach brings a lot to the low budget consumer. Great physics, good graphics and enjoyable game-play for budget cost, can be a little difficult to pull off with a pitiful p4 2.4 and an old Nvidia 8600 however Breach nails it.

Still Atomic’s Breach shows some serious cons.

Breach is not entirely original, derivative of several AAA titles Breach lacks any single strength. Although the destructible environment is enjoyable it is lacking featuring specific intended areas for alternate access and defense positions. Breach does not feature the fully destructible environment it promised.

Breach is still extremely buggy. Suffering under SLI (Confirmed with Alienware x17x, absolute epic fail) and sometimes Quad and Six core system ( unconfirmed, perhaps patched.) Breach lacks the quality testing we would see on AAA titles. Breach’s server is what can only be considered a failure (Confirmed, and an absolute atrocity for LAN play) and is, in my honest opinion, the game’s greatest barrier to a larger and more active player base.

Breach’s game play gets stale, featuring mainstay FPS gaming options like Capture the Flag and Deathmatch it lags any defining game mode. Although convoy is fun and ‘somewhat’ original it cannot maintain the game as a full featured release.

Graphics are a little dated, comparatively although in fairness it runs well on a very modest system.

The menu is terrible, and you are forced to navigate it each and every time you wish to update your characters perks and equipment. A perfect example of a rushed UI job.

So in conclusion should you buy Breach.

Yes, breach offers a great deal for it’s budget price. Not only will you be grabbing a Counter Strike replacement (a game it feels like, with added features.) you will help support independent developers and help take those AAA vendors a notch.
