Ok, so I’m playing Aion : The Tower of Eternity, have been for 3 months now. Got a asmodian sorceror to 50, and then deleted him to go play Elyos on the same server cause some mates are there. Now I’m playing the Elyos side of the story line. And I have to say, as someone who’s played : LOTS of other Korean MMO’s, World of Wangcraft, Age of Constipation, Warhammer Online, Dungeons and Dragons Online, DAOC (Dark age of Camelot) and probably a few others I can’t think of atm. I would have to say that Aion is by far the best experience I’ve had to date.

Aion is literally the little engine that could of the MMO industry today. Aion is an mmo that is literally jam packed with things to do, none of the annoying coding difficulties that Blizzard seems unable to surmount and finally a company that refuses to listen to BS americans whinging and bitching about how unfair everything is. Aion is a game for hardcore MMO’ers. It’s a game that has managed to combine progression and the korean grindfest, and a storyline and uneven leveling progression system.

By that I mean the first few areas in aion vary in difficulty not in keeping with most RPG’s/MMO’s. Aion does not follow your standard linnear or exponential difficulty progression. Infact throughout the leveling process you’ll find yourself going from easy to super hard to moderate all within a 5 level progression. This coupled with the PvPvE system, fortress raids and instances make aion one of the most challenging MMO’s I’ve seen yet.

In Aion, the first true “instance” that you reach isn’t until level 25, halfway through the levels. It’s a training instance, designed to teach you the rudimentary skills for a fortress raid. Because ladies and gentlemen you have to have conquered a fortress to have access to the instances/dungeons inside.  Ultimately without owning fortress’s there is only five instances in the game world for you to do. Each set on a lockout timer after you kill the final boss. For Nochshana Training Camp (Lvls 25-28) it’s 18hrs, for Fire Temple (Lvl 30+). But like the man said, the proof’s in the pudding, so I thought I’d link in the visions trailer, it’s what the NCSoft dev’s have released as the course of Aion over the next 12 months.
